Around 2,000 guests from all over the world will attend the Queen’s funeral in London. Among them are also some Germans.

Around 2,000 guests from all over the world, including heads of state, dignitaries and royals, have been invited to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) on Monday (September 19) in London. Some Germans are also traveling to the big state funeral in the British capital to say goodbye to the monarch who died on September 8th.

From the political squad, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (66) will be there, accompanied by his wife Elke Büdenbender (60). EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (63) will also pay her last respects to the Queen. It has not yet been confirmed whether Chancellor Olaf Scholz (64) will also travel to London.

German nobility on the guest list

In addition to the royals from the Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, Spain, Denmark and Belgium, some German noble representatives also received invitations to the funeral in Westminster Hall. Valerie Margravine of Baden and the hereditary prince couple Bernhard Prince of Baden and Stephanie Princess of Baden confirmed according to “t-online.de” in a statement their participation. The 52-year-old is the grandnephew of the Queen’s husband, Prince Philip (1921-2021), who died in 2021. He was also present at his funeral.

Philipp Fürst zu Hohenlohe Langenburg will also travel to London together with his wife Saskia. The new King Charles III. (73) is his great uncle.

With Heinrich Donatus Landgraf von Hessen (55), another German nobleman will be present at the funeral. He is a great-great-grandson of Queen Victoria (1819-1901) and great-nephew of Queen Elizabeth II.

Many heads of government have already arrived in London

Numerous heads of state and government have already traveled to the British capital over the weekend, US President Joe Biden (79) and First Lady Jill Biden (71) landed at Stansted Airport on Saturday evening. On Sunday evening, King Charles III. and other members of the Royal Family welcomed around 500 heads of state and diplomats to a reception at Buckingham Palace.
