This show wants to save lives!
After the success of the first season, Vox sent its reality documentary “Showtime of my Life – Stars Against Cancer” into the second round on Tuesday evening. This is where the celebrities get naked. Her mission: to encourage as many people as possible to take preventive care.
At the start, the men drew blank. One in particular grew beyond himself.
They all have very personal stories associated with the topic. Handball world champion Pascal Hens (41) spoke about his father, who was able to defeat lymph node cancer. In 2015, ex-kicker Benjamin Köhler (41) also experienced the insidious disease and says about the day of the diagnosis: “I really thought, not much longer and I’ll die.”

“Prince Charming” star Kim Tränka (31), whose ex-boyfriend died of leukemia, had similar experiences.
Ballermann star Mickie Krause (51), handball legend Michael Roth (60), actor Oliver Petszokat (43), ex-sports commentator Heiko Wasser (64) and actor Jan Sosniok (53) also took on the challenge on the show .
Under the watchful eyes of “Let’s Dance” juror Joachim Llambi (57), the choreography for a strip show was practiced and danced on the pole. The boys also posed as hot firefighters for a calendar.
The topic of cancer was omnipresent. Even intimate things were discussed. Michael Roth contracted prostate cancer at the same time as his twin brother in 2009. The former professional athlete reported: “You no longer ejaculate when you have an orgasm, and your bladder is more sensitive than it used to be.”
But that doesn’t hurt his love life, says Roth. “You just have to prepare better. Spontaneous sex is more difficult. You have to stimulate each other. Then it works perfectly.”

The shock moment of the documentary made it clear how important precautionary measures are. During the check-up in front of the camera, Mickie Krause discovered a tumor on his bladder. The subsequent examination at the Charité confirms the finding: bladder cancer!
His colleagues were speechless. But the Ballermann star bravely promised: “I’ll dance with you!” Perhaps the best distraction for him in this situation.
At the dress rehearsal in Berlin’s Admiralspalast, new bad news. Ex-soccer player Benjamin Köhler had been infected with Corona in the meantime and dropped out. Double stress for Mickie Krause, whose choreography was therefore changed at short notice. The singer feared, “This could go haywire tomorrow.”
But the worries were unfounded. On the final day, he was also able to tell his boys: “I’m going to have an operation. This tumor is basically a polyp. That will be removed. It’s outside the bubble. This makes it look much, much better than originally thought.”

But the musician did not feel top fit. “I’m just realizing that the closer the gig gets, the weaker I get. I already have my worries at the moment and realize that I’m quite emotionally agitated,” he admitted when moderator Guido Maria Kretschmer (56) announced his candidates.
But as soon as he was on stage, Mickie was his old self again. In front of families and friends, the men peeled off their outfits like professionals and set off a top-class screaming concert. At the end, the last thong flew into the audience. Everyone dared to do something for a good cause. inhibitions? None!
Happy that the performance went off without a hitch, Mickie Krause finally had just one request: “I’m the best example of how quickly you can be confronted with the topic of cancer. For this reason: Guys, go to cancer screening!”
By the way, he was operated on in the meantime. The next examination at the end of February should show whether the cancer could be completely removed. From April, Mickie will start immunotherapy, which isn’t quite as aggressive as chemotherapy.
