What to do with the many refugees? The district of Starnberg is planning container accommodation in three communities. District Administrator Stefan Frey (CSU) on quotas, lack of support from the federal government and the lessons of the past few months.

Stefan Frey (CSU) is proud of the number: 3,300 refugees currently live in the district. They are accommodated in community accommodation, decentralized facilities or in privately provided living quarters. About 1900 of them fled the war in Ukraine. But more people are also coming from Iran, Africa, Afghanistan and Syria. Their accommodation and integration is still the biggest challenge for the district, says Starnberg’s district administrator in an interview.
