Spring event: Which products Apple is presenting – and which not

On Tuesday at 4 p.m. Central European Summer Time the time has come: Apple’s “Let loose” spring event (German title: “Lass Dich frei”) takes place. The keynote will once again take place as a recorded video, with the company inviting press representatives to Cupertino and London, who will probably be able to look at the announced devices straight away. All indications so far suggest that it will be an iPad event, from the event logo to hints from Apple boss Tim Cook himself.

Well-informed circles believe that Apple will show a total of two new iPad model series – plus matching accessories. Other innovations, however, have to wait, for example Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman on Friday. Customers have been waiting for new hardware for the iPad since 2022. But on Tuesday it will probably not be all the tablets that Apple will update. At least there should be new iPad Pro models with 11 and 12.9 inches.

For the first time, you will receive OLED screens and – apparently now – the brand new M4 chip with AI features. Apple also wants to bring the iPad Air up to date, with a new SoC, an additional 12.9-inch version and other smaller adjustments. However, a mini LED screen (from the current iPad Pro) is not planned. Finally, Apple is said to have new Magic Keyboard products with aluminum housings and another Apple Pencil with haptic feedback in the pipeline. Finally, there are still certain hopes for the announcement of the European launch of the Vision Pro.

What shouldn’t be coming, however, are new variants of the standard iPad and iPad mini, even if these themselves are already gray. “End of the year” is considered a more realistic goal here. New Macs and the introduction of the new AI functions that Apple is planning for its operating systems are also unlikely. These are scheduled for WWDC in June. New headphones – such as standard AirPods or AirPods Max 2 – will probably still be needed.

No matter what Apple shows on Tuesday – Mac & i reports, as always, with a live ticker, as well as current reports on each new product. You can also count on current videos and classifications. By the way, Apple Keynotes normally take place at 7 p.m. Why it is preferred this time is unclear.
