Sports podcast: The DFB in permanent crisis, what threatens the association? – Sports

The procedures that revolve around the German Football Association are becoming more and more. The latest topic of the crisis is the question of how honorary posts at high levels are to be treated financially. The public prosecutor’s office has initiated preliminary proceedings against three former members of the DFB executive committee – it is about social security contributions and a clarification procedure with the German pension insurance. As in other cases, the association is threatened with additional payments, possibly in the tens of millions. All the financial affairs of the past few years are slowly threatening the company’s existence. But how this matter ends also has a fundamental meaning that goes beyond the DFB and football: Volunteers are essential for German sport.

In any case, the DFB leadership around President Bernd Neuendorf is not able to end the old scandal era or even create a spirit of optimism – which would be urgently necessary given the bad DFB image. What scenario threatens the association in view of all the cases and scandals? What is the latest case? How is the DFB doing financially? And what urgently needs to happen now to get out of the crisis? Presenter Anna Dreher talks about this in this episode of “And now to sport” with the two DFB experts Thomas Kistner and Johannes Aumüller.
