Spencer Tunick: Photographer wants to save the Dead Sea with naked models

See in the video: Photo artist Spencer Tunick puts naked models in the desert.

Naked and painted white, several models stood around in the Israeli desert on Sunday for a photo shoot by the American artist Spencer Tunick. According to the photographer, they are supposed to represent pillars of salt that are reminiscent of the natural springs of the Dead Sea. This has been threatened with dehydration for a long time. “We are here today to raise awareness of the Dead Sea, which is beginning to disappear because of political and economic interests that do not reflect the public. That is why it has been very important for us to come and take part in this provocative action.” said a model. The pillars of salt are also said to remind of the biblical story of Lot and his wife during the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. The Bible says that God was the only one who warned Lot and his family of the fall of the cities. However, Lot’s wife looked back and then froze into a pillar of salt. Calculations by the environmental organization “Friends of the Earth Middle East” in Amman showed that the Dead Sea will be gone by 2050 if the water level continues to sink at this rate.
