Species protection in Bavaria: Hunting association starts its own wolf monitoring – Bavaria

At the moment it is rather quiet around the wolves in Bavaria. But they are there, there is no doubt about it. The State Office for the Environment (LfU), which is responsible for everything that has to do with wolves in the Free State, already lists two cases of possible wolf attacks on farm animals on its homepage for February. One happened on Friday last week in Aying near Munich. Three sheep were killed and three injured in a pasture there at night. The other happened two days earlier in a game enclosure in Schwandorf, Upper Palatinate. In both cases, investigations are still ongoing to determine whether wolves were actually the attackers. According to the LfU, the last confirmed sheep tear by a wolf came from mid-December 2023 in the Lower Franconian Rhön.
