The soprano Fatma Said sings in six different languages, loves the art song and admires colleagues in whose voice you can hear the soul.
Fatma Said, she is in her early 30s, only makes opera occasionally and very selectively. Her passion is male-dominated lieder singing. She also knows: “It’s not something that’s cool. But I try to make it cool. So that my generation is also interested in it.” Little by little recitals are becoming a niche. “It’s a shame because it’s such a wonderful art.” And she is already quoting the grand master of lieder singing, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. “He said: A recital is much more difficult than an opera because it consists of 20 or 25 mini-operas. In an opera you sing an aria, it’s about a situation. But a song is about a story from beginning to end . You live the whole story in a song. It’s quite a lot of work, but it’s fulfilling.”
