Sofa instead of polling station – cities expect a record for postal votes – Bavaria

In the Bundestag election next Sunday, a postal ballot record is already emerging in many places in Bavaria. This was the result of a random dpa survey of electoral offices in larger cities a good week before election day. In Augsburg, 75,000 ballot papers were issued by Friday noon – four years ago it was just under 39,000 a week before election day. In Regensburg around 50,000 ballot papers were issued by Thursday evening, also almost twice as many as a week before the 2017 election day (29,000). In Ingolstadt around 40,000 postal voting documents had been issued by Friday noon, with 90,000 eligible voters in total. In Würzburg, almost 51,000 postal ballot papers had already been issued by noon on Friday.
