Söder’s compulsory vaccination separatism violates the rules of federalism – opinion

German federalism has always been interpreted white and blue in Bavaria. First comes Bavaria, then Bavaria, then the rest of the republic. But what Markus Söder is now doing with the suspension of the institution-related vaccination requirement can no longer be dismissed as tradition-saturated and somehow fundamentally sympathetic obstinacy. Just a reminder: A few weeks ago, the Bundestag and Bundesrat decided with the votes of the Union that by March 15th the staff of hospitals, medical practices and nursing homes must be vaccinated or have recovered. There is therefore a nationwide vaccination requirement, which is not to be misunderstood. According to the Basic Law, which also applies in Bavaria, the states must implement this obligation; of “expose” is nothing there.
