The new year had barely set off from the countryside to the cities on subsidized tractors when it brought with it a trend. Anyone who values the farmers, the truck drivers, the train drivers and the CSU parliamentary group – i.e. all those whose strong arms keep all wheels standing still – wears the city farmer’s hat (SBH) on Insta, Tiktok and in the “Tagesschau”. The city farmer’s hat is forest-colored, i.e. dark brown, pine green or black-gray, just like the early morning clearing in which the silhouette of the deer can be seen. It has a wide, but not too wide, brim, and it is definitely adorned with an ethno-agricultural hat band, braided in leather, felted or otherwise close to the earth.
