Socialist deputy Jérôme Guedj on Wednesday accused the government of “negligence towards the elderly” in an interview with the Parisian. “We are going to launch a parliamentary petition to ask the government to put on the agenda the famous old age law that the President of the Republic had promised five years ago”, he specified on Europe 1, estimating “that there is not a single promise made so precisely that has been buried so thunderously”.
Recalling that the population of 75-85 year olds was going to “double in the next 25 years”, the deputy from Essonne warned against an “aging crisis” and called for a “Matignon of longevity”.
Author in 2020 of a report on aging and specialist in the question, Jérôme Guedj is convinced that a “political consensus” is possible and that a “transpartisan law” can be drafted in “six months” to be examined at the spring.
