Old accounts given away: Joko and Klaas new on Instagram

Around two million followers: Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf recently gave away their large Instagram community for a good cause. Now they report back somewhere else.
Three weeks ago, the entertainers Joko and Klaas gave away their Instagram appearances to two women from the protest movement in Iran. Now they are back online with new accounts. “Yes, these are the new accounts from Joko and Klaas,” replied the responsible communications agency to a dpa request. “The other two accounts will remain with Azam and Sarah as promised.” The news portal “watson.de” had previously reported about it.
In concrete terms, this means that women’s rights activist Azam Jangravi, who had to flee after a protest against the headscarf ban in Iran, continues to post on Joko Winterscheidt’s old account, “Officiallyjoko”. Joko’s new appearance is called “Officiallyjokoturbo”. Klaas Heufer-Umlauf’s original account, “Damitdasklaas,” continues to be used for messages by Sarah Ramani of the “The Voice of the Streets” movement. Klaas will post under “Damitdasklaasturbo” in the future.
The two explicitly asked their followers to continue following the Instagram posts of the two Iranians. “Anyone who follows me here also undertakes to follow my ‘Officiallyjoko’ account. Thank you,” says Joko’s account.
At the end of October, the two jokers from the ProSieben broadcaster gave away their personal Instagram accounts “forever” to two Iranian activists – together around two million followers. They had previously deleted all of their own posts. 1.46 million television viewers followed the program live on the TV screen.
The trigger for the system-critical mass protests in Iran was the death of the 22-year-old Iranian Kurd Mahsa Amini. The vice squad arrested her for allegedly violating Islamic dress codes. She died in police custody in September. Since her death, thousands have been demonstrating across the country against the government’s repressive course and the Islamic system of rule.
