Snow in sight at the weekend – winter could come here on the 1st of Advent

On the weekend there could be fresh snow just in time for the 1st Advent. Whether and how much that will be depends on various factors, as RTL meteorologist Björn Alexander explains.
The time couldn’t be more appropriate: just in time for the first Advent, a white blanket could be laid over Germany – or at least parts of Germany – next weekend. Meteorologist Björn Alexander explained on the RTL portal “Wetter.de” that, according to the current forecasts, it is not yet possible to say with certainty where and how much snow will fall. But, as the experts say, the overall chances of fresh snow are not bad.
The jet stream reaching south connects to a storm low on the Mediterranean Sea. This gravure complex swings out to Central Europe. “In Germany that clears the way for cold, wet polar air and the first (early) onset of winter of the season,” Alexander is quoted as saying.
Onset of winter: Little chance of snow in the north
However, this is currently still very different depending on the weather model. “For example, the current forecasts of the Canadian weather model in the western low mountain ranges as well as in the south and southeast show considerable amounts of snow of up to 30 centimeters or more,” says Alexander. Accordingly, snow would also be possible in the lowlands, but not everywhere.
The north of Germany has little chance of a closed snow cover. However, it gets winterly frosty there too, especially at night. A snow or snow shower can also come down in northern climes at the weekend. Ergo, drivers across the country should be prepared for winter road conditions as a precaution.
The sun is likely to retreat on the first early winter weekend and be covered by clouds moving across the land. According to the forecast, temperatures will not exceed six degrees.
