Snow in Bavaria: accidents on slippery roads – Bavaria

White roofs, white streets and more accidents: the snow is back in Bavaria and the streets are slippery – and that’s how it should stay for the time being. The German Weather Service (DWD) announced that it would continue to snow in the middle and in the south on Saturday.

Already on Friday evening some cars had started to sway. According to the police, two men drove off Autobahn 9 near Bayreuth and were seriously injured. In the Donauwörth area, the police spoke of several slippery accidents because some of the cars were already on snowy roads with summer tires. In an accident, the vehicle of an 18-year-old overturned, but was not injured, the police said.

The weather service announced further slippery snow or freezing wet. On Saturday there should be up to five centimeters of fresh snow in the foothills of the Alps and probably on the Franconian Alb. Further north it snows less, but it stays smooth, according to the DWD. On the night of Sunday, up to ten centimeters of fresh snow have been announced in the Alps, especially to the east.
