06:17: “Activate level 2 of the snow and ice plan in Ile-de-France”

The Paris police chief has “decided to activate level 2 of the snow and ice plan in Ile-de-France” and to apply precautionary measures, including “the speed limit to 70 km/h” and “the ban on overtaking maneuvers for vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes” on major roads in Ile-de-France.

“A snow axis, now very weak, extends from the Paris region to Lower Normandy with evolution towards ice on the ground, due to very low temperatures. (…) We observe 13 centimeters of snow in Annecy, but just a sprinkling for the moment towards Grenoble and Chambéry. We report on average 3 to 7 centimeters in Normandy and 1 to 2 centimeters in the south of the Paris region,” Météo-France wrote on Tuesday around 7 p.m.
