Smuggling at Munich Airport: Gold circlet in a tomato and cheese baguette – Munich

A traveler tried to smuggle a gold bangle past customs in her travel supplies at Munich airport. The Munich main customs office announced on Tuesday that the 60-year-old had returned from a trip to Turkey. Customs officers checked the woman on Saturday as she walked through the aisle for goods that had not been declared.

When the officers x-rayed the hand luggage, they discovered the gold jewelry. They searched the luggage, which contained various food items – and came across the bracelet, which was wrapped in a paper towel and lying in the baguette between cheese and tomatoes, as a customs spokeswoman explained. The woman paid the due fee of 200 euros and was allowed to take the jewelry home with her.
