Smugglers flee, 972 cartons of cigarettes found in their trunks

Three cars following each other never go unnoticed by customs officers. In the night from Saturday to Sunday, while they were monitoring the roads on the border of Ariège and Haute-Garonne, the agents of the customs brigade of Frouzins decided to check the cars in convoy, which looks very similar to a “go fast”.

To intercept them, they set up a device. At his sight, a car tries to turn around. The two other cars force the dam and their wheels, caught in harrows, burst. They go a few more meters and stop. The smugglers manage to flee on foot, abandoning their cars, and all their merchandise, on the spot. And the coffers are full.

When the customs officers open them, they discover no less than 972 cartons of cigarettes with a resale value of around 97,200 euros. This contraband tobacco, from Andorra, is according to customs officials intended to supply the parallel cigarette market in the Toulouse region.
