Smooth closure of the platform after the hiccup on Wednesday evening

This Thursday evening marked the end of the period for finalizing wishes on Parcoursup. The latter finally took place without a hitch, after a breakdown hit the higher education admissions platform on Wednesday evening.

A bug attributed to a “server availability problem”, according to the Ministry of Higher Education. “There was no problem” on Thursday, explains a ministry spokesperson. “It will take us several days to have the report” on the diagnosis concerning the breakdown on Wednesday evening, according to the same source.

Additional time granted

Initially, candidates had until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday to definitively confirm their training wishes. But due to the technical glitch, an additional period of almost 24 hours was granted. Access to the platform was finally restored during the night from Wednesday to Thursday.

Contacted by AFP, the Ministry of Higher Education explained on Wednesday evening that a “server availability problem” had been detected, reducing the number of simultaneous connections on the platform. The ministry assured that the situation was “not linked to an excess of connections”.

“The incident has no consequences for the candidates. There was no leak or loss of data” on the files, a source from the Parcoursup team told AFP, saying they could not rule out “the hypothesis of a cyberattack” at this stage. .

Responses from May 30

Candidates had until Thursday March 14 to formulate a maximum of 10 wishes, not prioritized, then until Wednesday April 3 to finalize their file and confirm their wishes.

High school and reorientation students will receive the first answers to their wishes from May 30. Each year, Parcoursup, successor to the APB platform since 2018, causes stress and anxiety among some students – and their parents – during this end-of-school stage.
