Small drop in intentions to hire executives but recruitment difficulties remain the real problem

The economic consequences of the war in Ukraine are beginning to have an impact on executive employment. Recruitment intentions are down slightly with 10% of companies planning to hire at least one manager in the third quarter against 13% in the second, according to the latest Apec barometer published on Monday.

“The slight decline in executive hiring intentions, which began in March in a context of uncertainty linked to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, is confirmed,” said the Association for Executive Employment. However, Apec explains that “recruitment difficulties are not drying up and are reaching record levels: 84% of companies anticipate them for the 3rd quarter, a level never before reached (30 points more than in September 2020) “.

It “is not a fatality”

“These difficulties in recruiting today represent a real threat to the economic development of companies. This is not, however, a fatality. There is a pool of skills available who aspire to work, for example among seniors but also among young graduates,” pleads the director general of the association, Gilles Gateau.

The volume of job offers published on apec.fr also remained “very well oriented in the second quarter in view of its level before the health crisis (+18% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2019)”, indicates the Apec.
