Skytrax ranking 2024: These are the ten best airports in the world

Traveling is a great thing. At least if you are lucky enough to land or depart from one of the best airports in the world. The British consulting company Skytrax determines what these are every year – and asks those who need to know best, the passengers themselves. For the current evaluation, Skytrax asked millions of people from more than 100 nations to give their opinion on more than 570 airports worldwide questioned. The best are no surprise.

In fact, two airports have been vying for the throne of the best airport in the world for years: Doha Hamad International Airport in Qatar and Singapore Changi Airport. In 2024, the airport in Qatar will once again take the crown. Last year, almost 46 million passengers were handled there. The airport has won the title for the third time. What makes him so special? The airport offers, among other things, free city tours to passengers who have a stopover in Qatar and have a lot of time to spare.

Skytrax ranking: Asia dominates the top 5

The hub in Singapore settled for second place in this year’s ranking and was named the best airport in Asia. Third, fourth and fifth place also go to Asia. Japan can be particularly happy. Tokyo has two airports in the top five of the world’s best.

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport has fallen from fourth to sixth place, but is still the best European airport. The Bavarian airport in Munich is also still a regular in the top ten and can look forward to eighth place, one place lower than in 2023. Only three other airports made it into the top 100: Düsseldorf (31st), Frankfurt (34th), and Berlin-Brandenburg (100th).

The survey for the Skytrax ranking was carried out between August 2023 and March 2024. Among other things, the passengers were asked about their satisfaction with the security check, the choice of food and the shopping opportunities, cleanliness and leisure options.
