Tuesday, six minors aged 14 to 17, attending the Portes de l’Oisans de Vizille high school, near Grenoble, were placed in police custody and were presented before the public prosecutor’s office and the children’s judge, informed the press, Éric Vaillant, public prosecutor of Grenoble. They are suspected of being the authors of six false bomb threats between November 6 and 17.
“For each of these alerts, a student’s cell phone was used, with or against their will,” he added. A call was made to the high school’s main line and unequivocally, a sometimes robotic voice announced the explosion of the establishment. » The lines and owners of the telephones identified made it possible to trace the authors of the false alerts.
Summons to appear before the judge on December 19
The Grenoble prosecutor’s office recalls that, “systematically”, classes had to be interrupted and the 1,400 students as well as the hundred teachers had to be evacuated from the establishment. “The gendarmerie and the Grenoble academy reserve the right to file a complaint and are currently quantifying the damage suffered,” indicated the prosecutor.
The young defendants were summoned before the children’s judge on December 19 to answer for the offense of “disclosure of false disaster information likely to provoke the intervention of emergency services”, specified the same source. They face penalties of up to two years’ imprisonment and a fine of €30,000.
“In total, twelve bomb threats affected this establishment and seven young people were confused in their actions,” concluded Éric Vaillant.
