Six days before Christmas, a man spends part of the night stuck in a chimney

The Ain firefighters had to deploy great resources, six days before Christmas, to extract, during the night from Monday to Tuesday, a man stuck in a chimney flue for an unknown reason.

No less than 23 firefighters and 15 specialized machines, including “mountain rescue” and “rescue and clearance” teams, intervened shortly after three o’clock in a two-story building in Ambérieu-en-Bugey.

A “confused” man

The individual, aged 40, had been stuck in the chimney since the beginning of the evening and it took several hours to free him “while preserving the integrity of the building”, according to the Ain firefighters.

Slightly injured, he was transported to hospital, where he was still at midday, according to the gendarmes who have not yet been able to question him. “He is confused” and does not speak French, they said.
