The series not to be missed in December
“And Just Like That”, the sequel to “Sex and the City”
With the end of La Casa de Papel, seasons 2 of The Witcher, The Great or Emily In Paris and season 4 of Cobra Kai, the end-of-year holiday menu promises to be particularly generous on the series side, but there is no doubt that the sequel to Sex and the City will be an event, just like that of Dexter: New Blood, expected in France on December 16 on Canal +. In this new chapter entitled And Just Like That, beloved Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) return to our screens, but without Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall). The three New Yorkers will be accompanied by new recruits like Sara Ramírez (Callie Torres in Grey’s Anatomy), Sarita Choudhury (Mira Berenson in Homeland) and Nicole Ari Parker (Giselle Sims-Barker in Empire). Other characters from the original series are expected to make an appearance. This new season, which has 10 episodes, will show how the trio evolves in their fifties. A revival for better or worse? Answer on December 9 on HBO Max in the United States and December 10 in France on Salto!
“The Book of Boba Fett”, the new live action series “Star Wars”
Star Wars fans have long dreamed of seeing the Bounty Hunter in the foreground. What was their joy to discover in the post-credits scene of season 2 of The Mandalorian that the “son” (in reality, an unaltered clone) of Jango Fett would be entitled to his own adventure! In this second spin-off live-action Star Wars series, Boba Fett’s book, launched on December 29 on Disney +, the legendary bounty hunter (Temuera Morrison) and mercenary Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) return to the middle of the Tatooine dunes to claim the territory once occupied by Jabba the Hutt and his union du crime. A series that breaks the myth from the foreground! Sissi, a German series presented as a world premiere during the last CanneSeries edition and available in December on Salto before its broadcast on TF1, looks back on the life of Elisabeth of Bavaria, who became Empress of Austria. Sixty-five years after Ernst Marischka’s cult trilogy and before Netflix’s miniseries, The Empress, this version shows a much more modern and pop heroine and a much more tumultuous love story than the fairy tale popularized by Romy Schneider. “Sissi is a timeless story, a young woman struggling for her independence in a rather hostile environment. It seems that history is repeating itself. Today, she could be interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, ”quipped Moritz von Kruedener, general manager of Beta Film production, who sold the series to TF1. In the title role, the American-Swiss Dominique Devenport does not demerit by succeeding the icon Romy Schneider, while the German Jannik Schümann plays her husband Franz Joseph I, Emperor of Austria. A second season of Sissi has already been confirmed across the Rhine.
