Sipri Report: Global military spending rises to record level – politics

You can hear on talk shows and read editorials every day that the world is not in particularly good shape politically. In figures, however, it is rarely shown as impressively as in the annual report on global military spending by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Sipri), which is published this Monday. The Sipri has been collecting these numbers since 1969, and what can you say: a world record, once again. All countries spent a total of 2.443 trillion US dollars on equipping and upgrading their respective armies, more than ever before.
