Already with the quartet A Novel of Anomaly They were successful together, now the unique Swiss vocal acrobat Andreas Schaerer and the equally idiosyncratic Finnish guitarist Kalle Kalima, who has lived in Berlin for a long time, are presenting themselves in the Underpass in an intimate duo. Their forthcoming album “Evolution” is – a novelty for both of them – a real song album.
Schaerer is more of a singer here than ever and uses his typical vocal escapades sparingly, Kalima is completely absorbed in a role that supports the statement. The unmistakable signature of the two remains, of course, and can be found not least in the texts, some of which deal with very personal, intimate thoughts and experiences. And this is often musically more complex than the fluid and catchy character of their pieces suggests at first glance.
