Siegertsbrunn – interim quarters for Volksbank and weekly market – district of Munich

Bahnhofstrasse in Siegertsbrunn will change its face in two places. On the one hand, according to the town hall, the Volks- und Raiffeisenbank is planning to convert its branch across from the junction to the street Am Stiergarten. On the other hand, the community at Bahnhofsstraße 22 has already started demolishing two buildings – on a piece of land that will initially be converted into a publicly accessible gravel area with seating. Not only the weekly market should find a home there in the future. The Volksbank may also temporarily erect a prefabricated building with an ATM and service terminal on the site – for the time until the renovation of the branch at Bahnhofstrasse 34 has been completed.

According to Mayor Mindy Konwitschny (SPD), the local council unanimously approved the associated building application. According to the town hall administration, four car, four bicycle and two cargo bike parking spaces are to be created in addition to a three by four meter wooden building. “In the future, these can also be used for visitors to the weekly market,” said the submission to the municipal council meeting.

After all, they want to offer the weekly market, whose stalls are currently on Tuesday afternoons in the parking lot across from the Kreissparkasse, a move to the communal property, says Konwitschny. “That would certainly be the nicer place.” The mayor emphasizes: “In the long term, the weekly market belongs in the center of the town.” The catch: it will probably be a few more years before the planned center around the train station, including a new town hall and a market square, is actually a reality.

Before that, the weekly market should move to the communal property opposite the intersection with Saglerstrasse. What will happen there in the medium term is currently still uncertain. Deciding on this will be the task of the municipal council when it advises on a development plan for the area, said the mayor.
