Should a lane on the ring road be reserved for buses and carpooling?

If the Ile-de-France region is launching a major consultation on the periphery, why not 20 minutes ? Especially since, no more than us, the Ile-de-France does not manage the large Parisian bypass. But before deciding, it is important to be well informed. In July 2020, in an interview with Parisian, Anne Hidalgo announced that “by 2024, [du périphérique] will be reserved for public transport, clean cars and carpooling ”.

In response to this project, the region led by Valérie Pécresse, also a presidential candidate, launched since Wednesday November 10 “a major online consultation on the issue of the upcoming withdrawal of a traffic lane open to all on the ring road Parisian ”. So it is not strictly speaking a deletion because there will always be four lanes, but one of them will be “reserved exclusively for buses and carpooling”, as specified in the regional press release.

What do you think of this project to reserve a lane of the ring road for buses and carpooling? Is this a good or a bad idea and why? Should we go straight to a 2×3 lane device? Your testimonials will be used in writing an article.
