Shots were heard on Friday around 5 p.m. in a hairdressing salon in the city center of Algrange, in the Fensch valley, in Moselle. A 3-year-old child was seriously injured and his mother more lightly from the gunfire. Her ex-partner could be the author of the shots.
The mother, manager of this salon since December 7, as well as her child were targeted, according to the police source, confirming information from France Bleu Lorraine Nord. The two victims were injured, it was added, specifying that the prognosis was engaged for the child. They were transported by helicopter to the Nancy hospital center (Meurthe-et-Moselle). The little boy received “a bullet in the head and his vital prognosis is engaged,” confirmed Mayor Patrick Peron. “The shooter tried to end his life and is also hospitalized,” he added.
According to one of his assistants, Yvon Bonaldo, responsible in particular for security issues and who went there, the mother of the child was in the process of separation from her spouse, suspected of being the shooter who attempted to commit suicide in Florange, ten kilometers away. Seriously injured, he was also helicoptered, according to France Bleu. According to the Lorraine Republican, both adults are in their twenties.
“Two vital prognoses engaged”
Rémy Dick, the mayor of Florange, reached by phone by France 3 Lorraine Friday night said that “obviously the link between the two dramas seems to be established by everyone. Investigators make the link between the events in Algrange and the suicide attempt ”.
And he added: ” As I speak to you the three victims have been helicoptered to the hospital with two vital prognoses involved, for the child and the shooter. Once again the investigation must take its course but it seems that the man would have taken refuge with a person who would have helped him to obtain the weapons ”.
The investigation will have to formally determine whether the two events are linked. The Thionville prosecutor’s office refused to make any immediate statement.
