Shares – Dax stabilizes – economy

Many uncertainties remain, but the Dax is increasing in calm trading. The stock exchanges in the USA are closed due to a holiday and are therefore not providing impetus. Lufthansa papers are in demand.

After the turbulent previous week, the dax added on Monday. The leading German index ended trading up 1.1 percent at 13,266 points. Market observers spoke of a rather quiet trading session, since there was hardly any stimulus from the economic side and Wall Street, an important pacesetter, remained closed due to a holiday in the USA.

Concerns that the major central banks could stall the economy too much in their fight against record inflation have recently caused turmoil on the stock markets. Experts did not expect a sustained recovery. Concerns about inflation, interest rates and the economy, as well as fears of an energy crisis, speak against risky assets in particular, the analysts at Helaba said in a comment. According to Jochen Stanzl from CMC Markets, stock market prices are currently being supported somewhat by the fall in oil prices.

Among the individual stocks, the focus was on the European construction sector. Irish building materials manufacturer Kingspan said orders fell in May and June. Kingspan shares fell 11.6 percent. In Paris, Saint-Gobain fell by four percent. The Heidelberg-Cement shares listed in the Dax got off lightly with a minus of 0.9 percent. On the other hand, Bayer shareholders were happy about another glyphosate process won, the shares of the chemical company gained 1.3 percent. After a short Dax abstinence, the shares of the consumer goods group Beiersdorf, which moved back into the first stock exchange league, rose by 4.3 percent and were among the top favorites. Hellofresh shares are up 4.1 percent. After Delivery Hero had to leave the leading index, the delivery service that remained in the Dax is now weighted higher in the portfolios, according to retailers. The changes in the Dax family can cause price movements, since funds that replicate indices in real terms have to be shifted and reweighted accordingly. Lufthansa shares led the M-Dax winners with a premium of 7.6 percent. In view of the strong demand for tickets, the aviation group is considering a return of its mothballed Airbus A380 giant jets.
