Shannen Doherty shared the moments before tumor surgery. In it, she jokes with the staff, but explains that it looked different in her.
US actress Shannen Doherty (52) continues to let her fans participate in her fight against cancer. Via Instagram she shared a video from January 16, 2023, which she shows a few moments before a tumor operation. In the video, she talks through the final details with the medical staff. She actually seems tidy, focused and seems to have kept her sense of humor even in this difficult situation. “Do you feel any weakness in your legs,” Doherty is asked before the procedure. She replies with a laugh: “I know that right foot is perfectly fine. It’s fine.”
But in the text for the video, she reveals her real state of mind: “I had a tumor in my head that should be removed and biopsied, I’m trying to be brave, but I’m petrified.” The fear was overwhelming for her: “I was afraid of all the possible consequences, worried about having to leave my mother and how that would affect her. I was afraid that after the operation I would no longer be myself . This is what cancer can look like.”
In 2020, Shannen Doherty’s cancer returned
A few days ago, Doherty revealed that a CT scan of her brain in early January showed metastases and posted a video of her concomitant radiation therapy.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” star was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. After the amputation of both breasts, the disease initially seemed defeated. In 2020, however, the relapse followed: her cancer had metastasized and is in the fourth stage.
The actress is open about her illness and regularly describes her experiences and feelings on social networks to encourage others who are affected. In October 2020, Doherty wrote on Instagram: “It’s not about being a warrior or a survivor. It’s about living and growing with cancer.”
