Seven people posing “an unacceptable risk and threat” to the Australian population were arrested during anti-terrorism searches involving some 400 members of the police on Wednesday, Australian police said.
An “extremist ideology”
Two senior police officers say the individuals are linked to the 16-year-old accused of stabbing a Sydney bishop, and that they adhered to a “religiously motivated extremist ideology”. Police earlier said five people had been arrested.
