The Dismissal of coach Thomas Reis At FC Schalke 04 there are apparently more than just sporting reasons. A report from the Picture According to the sporting leadership, they found out that the 49-year-old was said to have passed on internal information to the media.
According to this, Reis specifically leaked information in “secret discussions with the media” in order to be able to defend himself against criticism from the dressing room. The superiors had not done this sufficiently publicly, as the newspaper explains the intention of the ex-Schalke coach.
Rice’s step is according to the Picture would have been such a breach of trust for the management that he would have lost the last support of sports director Peter Knäbel and André Hechelmann.
Schalke somewhat surprisingly parted ways with Reis on Wednesday after the S04 management had supported him on Monday. The accusation that was raised probably led to an immediate rethink in the end.
Previously had Reis has reportedly already lost large parts of the team. The suspicion grew after Timo Baumgartl’s memorable interview following the 3-1 loss to St. Pauli again.
On Thursday, Reis revealed that he had not expected his departure from Schalke 04. “I found out about my dismissal on Wednesday morning. Of course, I was very surprised and disappointed at first. I would have loved to have stayed as coach at Schalke for a long time,” he explained to the SID.
