The former soccer world champion Jérôme Boateng will play in Italy in the future. US Salernitana has now made the transfer official.

The former national soccer player Jérôme Boateng will play in the Italian Serie A in the future. The 35-year-old former world champion’s move to US Salernitana is fixed, as the club from Salerno in southern Italy announced.

Both sides have therefore agreed on a contract until June 30, 2024. Boateng should wear the number 5 jersey for the current bottom team in Serie A, it was said.

“I’m happy to be here and play for this great club and its passionate fans. I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent this beautiful city and region,” Boateng wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday. “I’m really looking forward to continuing my career here and contributing to the club’s success. I’ll give everything I can to help us achieve our goals. Forza Salernitana!”

There has been speculation for a few weeks now about the ex-Bayern player’s move to Italy. Boateng landed in Salerno on Wednesday and underwent medical examinations on Thursday. According to media reports, he has already met Salernitana’s coach Pippo Inzaghi and got to know his new teammates.
