The cabaret artist Lisa Fitz caused a stir with false statements about vaccine deaths in front of the cameras. Now she is ending decades of collaboration with the satirical show “Spätschicht”.
The cabaret artist Lisa Fitz no longer wants to appear in the SWR comedy show “Spätschicht” after her sharply criticized statements about vaccination deaths. Fitz confirmed this to the German Press Agency on Thursday. She accused the editors of the program of a breach of trust.
It is with great regret that Fitz has decided not to be part of the satirical show in the future, SWR wrote on Thursday. “SWR regrets Lisa Fitz’s decision and would have liked to have continued the many years of very stimulating cooperation with her,” said SWR Program Director Information Clemens Bratzler.

In an episode of the show in November, Fitz spoke of 5,000 corona vaccine deaths across the EU when she appeared. According to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in Amsterdam, these are only suspected cases. It had not been established that there was a causal relationship with the vaccination. An estimated 600 million vaccine doses have now been administered in the EU. Given this huge number of vaccinated people, it is becoming more and more likely that people who die were also vaccinated.
After the broadcast and criticism of the broadcaster, Südwestrundfunk decided to remove the episode of the satirical program from the ARD media library and also from all SWR platforms and channels because it was a false statement of fact. Fitz herself later regretted having spoken of 5,000 corona vaccine deaths across the EU during her controversial appearance. She had rejected the accusation of being an opponent of vaccination and a corona denier.
Constructive correction desired
Fitz told dpa on Thursday that the editors knew the text before it was broadcast and had “approved” it a week before it was recorded. The basis for a trusting cooperation is no longer given. After decades of working together, she would have wished that the SWR management would stand behind her and give her the opportunity to make constructive corrections.
With a view to the media coverage of the performance, Fitz said that a “form error” is no reason to discredit someone with 40 years of cabaret history and multiple awards as “sworn”, “fake aunt” or even “liar”.
The SWR reacted to the allegations briefly: “We have already explained what the journalistic mistake was and why the article was published,” said a spokeswoman. “In addition, we have given a classification for dealing with the figures discussed. We do not see any other failures of the SWR and would have liked to continue working with Lisa Fitz. »
According to his own information from the end of December, Fitz referred to a motion for a resolution that was tabled in the European Parliament when making his statement about the vaccine deaths. However, she failed not to explicitly name the number as suspected cases of vaccine deaths. The application in question was submitted by the far-right MEP Virginie Joron from France. Joron, in turn, relies on a website on which private individuals report supposed vaccination consequences without a scientific examination being carried out, as a fact check by the German Press Agency in mid-November shows.
