Sempé, from “Little Nicolas” to a humorous and timeless critique of modernity

His drawings have passed through the hands of millions of children and probably no less adults. Deceased last year, Jean-Jacques Sempé, the creator of Little Nicholas, character scripted with Goscinny, left behind a work, less known and which goes far beyond the wanderings of his star schoolboy. Magazine covers, press cartoons in India ink, watercolor, color or black and white, cartoons, two hundred of his works are exhibited in Arles, as part of the first edition of the drawing festival featuring 20 artists.
