The rebellious have taken the habit for several years of meeting in Châteauneuf-sur-Isère, near Valence in the Drôme, to make their comeback. Between a hellish heat wave the first few days and torrential rains the last, the atmosphere was less enthusiastic than last year. Perhaps also because the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) is in crisis, against a backdrop of strategic disagreement for the European elections next June.
In this regard, the event of the weekend was obviously the declaration of Ségolène Royal, guest of LFI, who said that she was a candidate to lead a list of union with the Europeans, with rebellious France. The rebellious also welcomed Marie Toussaint, the head of the EELV list for these same Europeans. And then also Yolanda Diaz, the leader of Sumar, the Spanish radical left coalition, and vice-president of the government.
