17th minute/1. Third: Gooooool for the USA! And then it happens. The Americans counterattack and in the end Michael Kesselring cleverly puts the puck past the German keeper.
16th minute/1. One-third: Is there anything else going on for the Germans in the first third? First of all, Niederberger has to pull off a great save against Boldy. That was almost the second goal conceded.
13th minute/1. Third: Gooooool for the USA! And then the bell rings on the other side. Brady Tkachuk deflects a shot from his colleague from close range unstoppable for Niederberger. Suddenly Germany is behind.
12th minute/1. One-third: The lead does not succeed, despite the next big opportunity. Alex Lyon in goal for the Americans has a lot to do right now.
10th minute/1. One-third: Germany outnumbered for the first time, two minutes penalty for the USA. So far it has been a strong performance from the DEB team, which is pushing for the lead. Can it be achieved on the power play?
6th minute/1st third: First big chance for the German team after six minutes! Kalble looks for the shot, but it is heavily defused by the Americans’ goalkeeper. Shortly afterwards, a shot from Stachowiak hits the post.

6:15 p.m.: For national coach Harold Kreis, it’s about his team building on yesterday’s game today. But it won’t be easy. “We are preparing for a tough fight,” he said before the game. There is definitely room for improvement. “But we can still do some things better,” said the coach.
4:52 p.m.: The kick-off in the Ostrava ice rink will take place today at 8.20 p.m. The hot phase is slowly beginning for the players and the focus has to come slowly.
3:18 p.m.: Briefly about the group constellation: The first four teams in each of the two groups of eight make it to the quarter-finals. The first step is taken for the DEB selection. If you even win against the USA, then moving into the knockout phase is almost just a formality.
2:33 p.m.: It could be a toxic duel today. Why? We look back at the World Cup last year. In the semifinals, Germany sensationally beat the ice hockey great power 4-3 in overtime. So there is something to make up for the USA. A year ago, Germany ultimately won silver after a defeat in the final against Canada.
