Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen speaks of a serious situation. Apparently several people were preparing a terrorist attack.

At a Several people have been arrested in an anti-terror operation in various parts of Denmark. The reason for this was the suspicion that a terrorist attack was being prepared, the Copenhagen police announced. No further details were initially provided. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on the sidelines of the EU summit in Brussels that the situation was as serious as it could be.

It is initially unclear how many suspects were arrested in the coordinated operation. The police and the secret service PET wanted to comment on the action at a joint press conference in Copenhagen around 1 p.m.

In Denmark, as in neighboring Sweden, there were repeated burnings of the Koran this summer. The terrorist network Al-Qaeda then called for attacks against the two countries. A week ago, the Danish parliament passed a law banning the burning of the Koran and other religious writings.
