French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said Sunday in Seine-Saint-Denis that the means to ensure the security of the 2024 Olympic Games and its opening ceremony on the Seine in Paris would be “tenfold” compared to those mobilized for the Rugby World Cup.
“The Ministry of the Interior will be ready to organize the opening ceremony, to ensure the safety of spectators and teams,” continued the Minister, during a trip to the Saint-Denis police station, where the Stadium is located. Olympic, in the northern suburbs of Paris.

“We will be perfectly there,” he insisted, for the Games in Paris (July 26-August 11). He welcomed the organization of the Rugby World Cup from a security point of view.
Gérald Darmanin recalled that “11,000” members of the police and “around 3,000 municipal police officers” had been mobilized “every day”. “In two months, there were 4,880 anti-delinquency operations, or more than 80 per day, which gave rise to 781 arrests,” he added, stressing that there had been “around twenty malicious drones neutralized.”
