The summit in the Alps was still weeks away when the Bavarian police reported the first crimes. In the village of Farchant, nine kilometers as the crow flies from Schloss Elmau, strangers sprayed bridge pillars and noise barriers with slogans such as “Move G7” and “Scholz push Scholz”, the responsible police inspection in Garmisch-Partenkirchen announced at the beginning of June. The graffiti should be quickly painted over or covered up, they wanted to spare the chancellor and his guests the sight.
