SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce said she expects an increase in use cases for NFT tokens in 2022.
In an interview with CoinDesk on Thursday, Peirce presented her 2022 outlook, with Peirce saying that she expected more use cases for NFTs as more people understood that they could extract value from tokens. How to add more?
While those use cases would extend ownership and regulatory rights, Peirce cautioned that holders should keep an eye on whether those uses might be tied to securities law.
“I think as people have learned that Our definition of “securities” is quite broad. So people have to think about how the NFT might fall under the securities regulatory system,” she said.
