Autumn will be mysterious and dark: a new six-part series will be released on Amazon Prime Video. The psychological thriller “The Therapy” by Sebastian Fitzek will be released on October 26th.

Fans can look forward to scary entertainment. This also comes from the pen of the psychological thriller master himself: “The Therapy”, an adaptation of Sebastian Fitzek’s debut novel published in 2006, will be shown on Amazon Prime Video from October 26th.

The six-episode miniseries is about a father who suffers one of the worst fates that parents can experience: Viktor Larenz (Stephan Kampwirth), a renowned psychiatrist, goes to the doctor again with his twelve-year-old daughter Josy (Helena Zengel). She has been suffering for several months from an illness that no doctor has been able to explain. Viktor waits for Josy to return from the treatment room. But she doesn’t do that. The girl disappears under mysterious circumstances. The investigation and search for the child remain unsuccessful.

Visit from an unknown woman

Four years later: Larenz has given up his job as a psychiatrist and now lives in seclusion on a deserted island. Far away from his past and the media. However, he took his grief with him into exile. Because Viktor never really got over the grief of losing his daughter.

At some point in this lonely place he is visited by an unknown woman. She pretends to be Anna Spiegel and asks the former psychiatrist to do therapy with her. After initially refusing, he eventually gives in and learns that the woman suffers from schizophrenia. Anna Spiegel (Emma Bading) is a writer and suffers from delusions due to her illness. She tells her new therapist that a girl keeps appearing to her who, like Josy, disappears. Can this all be a coincidence?

In another storyline, viewers learn Dr. Roth (Trystan Pütter). A doctor whose story gradually becomes entangled with that of Viktor Larens.

“Therapy” takes place on the fictional island of Parkum. In addition to Berlin, it was also filmed in Amrum and Föhr. The gray and rainy backdrops of the North Sea islands give the series a mysterious and dark atmosphere.
