The search for the lioness in the Berlin area continues. The line-up is big. Another offered his help on Instagram: Clan member Firas Remmo.
Update from July 21, 1:40 p.m.: With Firas Remmo, a clan member has spoken out in the case of the presumably free-roaming wildcat. Now it has come to a curious turn. Experts are certain that the believed lioness is not a predator at all. In a press conference with Michael Gruber, the mayor of Kleinmachnow, and a senior police officer, it was said that there was currently “no more danger”.
“I watched it again and again”: wild boar expert refutes lion assumptions
Wildlife officer Derk Ehlers from NABU told RBB that he could only see two wild boars on the video that was circulating online of the suspected lioness: “I watched it again and again,” says Ehlers. Accordingly, a lioness cannot simply disappear like this: “She leaves traces”. It is striking that no traces of the animal were found at the location of the recording.
Mayor Gruber also explained at the press conference that a lioness would “always make a cat’s hump”. In addition, lionesses have longer and more muscular tails. Accordingly, the shape of the animal on the video does not match a big cat like a lion. It is “almost certainly” just a wild boar.

First report from July 21, 1:04 p.m.: Munich/Berlin – A big cat is on the loose in the Berlin area. A large contingent of emergency services has gone in search of the alleged lioness, which has already been spotted several times by the police and residents. But so far the animal could not be caught. Now someone has offered his help in finding the predator: Berlin clan member Firas Remmo.
The son of clan boss Issa Remmo publicly posted a multi-part story on his profile on Instagram. In it he writes in relation to the search for the lioness: “If anyone knows anything, please let me know first, then we’ll lead the lioness back to her enclosure before some idiot shoots her down.” After all, there are currently many armed forces on the hunt for the lioness.
With a further contribution he goes on an article of Berlin newspaper a. Responding to claims he wants to bring the predator back, Remmo wrote: “If not me, then who? Please don’t shoot it!” And seems to have a serious interest in bringing the animal back safely. However, one should be extremely careful when encountering a lion.
Remmo then starts a survey among his followers. When various media speculated that the predator could belong to the Remmo family, he asked his Insta community: “Who is all for Nala surviving?”. The name Nala is also known from the movie “The Lion King”, in which a lioness is named exactly like that. Unsurprisingly, by Friday morning, more than 87 percent of users chose the survey option “absolutely”. Only around 13 percent answered “it doesn’t matter”.

Remmo is apparently a real predator friend, as revealed by pictures on his Instagram profile. His two latest posts show him with a real tiger on a sofa. He wrote: “Live and let live. One takes pictures with a dog in bed, I with a tiger on the couch. “Under another post he writes: “My new favorite pet.”
Private individuals are allowed to keep lions in Brandenburg
In Berlin, keeping animals like a lion is forbidden, but in Brandenburg private individuals are allowed to keep carnivores. There, more precisely in Kleinmachnow, the video recordings of the alleged lioness were made. According to media reports, some members of the family live there.
That is why speculation has arisen on the internet as to whether the free-roaming wildcat could belong to the Remmo family. However, the veterinary office is not aware of any registered lions in the region around Kleinmachnow, officials said. Still, residents are worried.
