Search at Islamic association on suspicion of sedition – Bavaria

The Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating an Islamic association in Augsburg for sedition. As the investigators reported on Thursday, five private apartments of club members and the club rooms were searched the day before. “The club members affected by the search are viewed as witnesses in the investigation at the current status of the investigation,” it was emphasized.

The criminal case involves a video published on YouTube. It denies the Holocaust, spreads anti-Semitic hate speech and anti-Israel slogans, and makes references to a foreign terrorist organization. During the investigation into the video, direct references to the club in Augsburg were discovered. The Bavarian Central Office for Combating Extremism and Terrorism, located at the Attorney General’s Office, is conducting the investigation together with the Kripo State Security Office in Augsburg.

The officers are now evaluating the evidence seized during the search operation. These include, in particular, computer systems, data carriers and mobile phones. “In addition, books and flyers were found that are suspected of containing extremist-Islamic and anti-Semitic content.”
