Sciences Po students form a blockade against the “censorship” of their pro-Palestine positions

They were protesting “against the censorship and pressure” from the management of their campus, directed according to them against their position in favor of Palestine. Students who blocked the entrance to Sciences Po Menton since 6 a.m. this Thursday were dislodged a little before 3 p.m. And “66 verbalization procedures have been established,” said the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture. The students concerned were fined 38 euros for their participation in an undeclared demonstration.

“The police proceeded calmly to clear the access […] in order to allow the continuity of teaching”, announced the State services on the social network X. In fact, certain students were evacuated manu militari.

“No remarks falling within the scope of the law”

Around a hundred of them gathered at the height of the mobilization, in front of trash cans and barriers piled up to block access to the campus. They explain that the establishment’s management reproached some of them for their posts in support of Palestine, published on their personal social networks.

The prefecture warned in the morning that “no anti-Semitic slogan [serait] tolerated” during mobilization. It finally indicated that “no comment falling within the scope of the law [n’avait] was noted by the police present on site.

For the management of Sciences Po Menton, “penalize the entire campus community, for demands around which discussions have taken place daily for more than a month […]is not an acceptable means of action,” she reacted.
