An 88-year-old mountaineer from Munich fell 80 to 100 meters through steep rocky terrain in Upper Bavaria and died. The man hiked alone in the Miesbach district from the mountain station of the Taubensteinbahn to the Taubenstein summit, as the police announced on Saturday. After the fall on Friday lunchtime, he was believed to be dead immediately.
Rescue workers from the Alpine Task Force in Rosenheim and the Schliersee mountain rescue service recovered the dead with the help of a police helicopter. According to previous knowledge, the police assume an accident. A police mountain guide has taken over the investigation into the course of the accident.
