Schliersee: Car overrun, two injured, railway line to Bayrischzell now open again – Bavaria

A man was hit by a train in his car at an unbarred railway crossing near Schliersee in the Miesbach district and was seriously injured. The car was thrown into a nearby stream as a result of the collision on Saturday, police said on Sunday. Fire and rescue services got the 60-year-old out of the vehicle.

The 58-year-old train driver was reportedly slightly injured. According to initial investigations, the approximately 50 passengers remained unharmed. According to police, the train sustained damage in the mid to high five-figure range.

The Schliersee – Bayrischzell railway line was reopened on Saturday evening. The investigation into the exact cause of the accident was ongoing.

In Dietersheim, Central Franconia, in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district, a car was hit by a train at a railway crossing on Friday evening. According to the police, the driver had apparently crossed the unbarred railway crossing without looking. Two passengers were slightly injured as a result of the accident. A third person remained uninjured.
