The community of Schliersee has always lived from tourism, but conditions in the industry are becoming tougher. While some see the future in a larger hotel on the lakeshore, others are against a new building that would change the place.
They have actually always agreed on one thing at Schliersee: it shouldn’t be “like other lakes,” some say as diplomatically as possible. “Like on the other lake,” is how some people put it a little more clearly. And still others say it directly: No, things really shouldn’t get as far here as over at Tegernsee. Marcel de Alwis is someone who sometimes talks about the other lakes and sometimes about the other lake.
