“Mini tank ball” and tree thorn: Two special baby animals are born at Hoyerswerda Zoo
In spring, the offspring of animals sees the light of day: two special specimens have now been born at Hoyerswerda Zoo.
One looks fluffy but is spiky, the other has a shell that is initially soft: two special baby animals were born in April at Hoyerswerda Zoo.
Visitors can now observe a small spherical armadillo and a young so-called tree quill, as the zoo announced on Friday.

The female armadillo was born a week and a half ago. “The mini armored ball is already a full-fledged armadillo, just in miniature format,” said the zoo. The armadillo child can walk straight away and is already independent at three months. The shell only hardens after a few days.

The tree porcupines, which look like porcupines, had offspring as early as mid-April. “Even though he looks like a little ball of fluff with a knobby nose, he is pretty prickly because he has had the spines since birth,” the zoo said in a statement.
